The harvest scene does not speak of untimely cutting down of the grain; rather it is in its season. Worthy goals in life maybe to live fully and die confidently. To live fully would involve growing physically until maturity, growing intellectually long after the challenges of formal education has ended and growing spiritually to become more and more like Jesus Christ.
To die confidently means that we have chosen a mature Christian attitude toward death and the life beyond. Personally we should welcome death, for heaven is a beautiful place. Also death provides a release from pain and from the weeds and thorns of life; it provides a triumph over sin, grief and loss even though there maybe a real regret because of certain responsibilities and fellowships we would still like to shoulder and embrace. Mrs. Nettie Jacobs Lawson departed this walk of life Friday February 12,2010 in Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in the Rutland Nursing Home around 10 p.m. She was born October 20,1922 in Darlington County daughter of the late Maggie Williams Jacobs and Irvin Jacobs and was married to the late Jeff Lawson Sr. From this union seven children were born. J.C. Lawson and Nellie Lawson Peterson presided her to the grave.
Surviving are Jeff Lawson Jr. of Baltimore,MD, Mary Fields Brooklyn,N.Y, Henry Lawson of Hartsville,S.C., Annie McClain, Brooklyn, N.Y., Alan Lawson and adopted son Darryl Lawson of Nashville, TN. She is also survived by one sister Pearlie Tayor and one brother Samuel Jacobs from Baltimore, MD. Also two son-in-laws, two daughter-in-laws, a host of grand kids, nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends. She attended Darlington County public school and was a faithful member of Lawson Grove Baptist Church as a member of the usher board. A dedicated loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
