Deone Shanard Scott was born on June 5, 1974 to the late Leon Scott, Jr. and Mae Frances (Plight) Scott in Hartsville, South Carolina, and departed this life on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina.
Deone was a proud 1992 graduate of St. John’s High School in Darlington, South Carolina. While in high school, he was very active in sports and played baseball, football, and basketball. He also excelled artistically, and received a four-year art scholarship. He was employed by W. Lee Flowers & Company, Inc. (IGA) from 1991 until August of 2018.
His spiritual development began at Nathan’s Temple F.B.H. in Hartsville, South Carolina, under the leadership of the late Dr. D.L. Heard. He served as her personal driver for many years. In addition, he was ordained as a deacon, and served faithfully in that and many other capacities. Deone was known as “The Praising Drummer”. His favorite motto was “To God be the Glory!” Deone loved to tell people about the love of God and salvation. Many people were blessed through his testimony. Deone NEVER met a stranger!
He met the love of his life in January of 2001. They were united in holy matrimony on October 22, 2005, and to this union, two sons were born, Dominick and Kendell. Deone was active at Living Word Praise Fellowship under the leadership of Pastors Cornelius and Rosa Johnson for a number years, while also serving various other ministries. At the time of his passing, he and his family were in fellowship with Pastor Kyle Myer and the Dominion church of Darlington, SC.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife (Falana), his sons, Dominick Josiah and Kendell Jaiden Scott, of the home, his loving mother, Pastor Mae Frances Scott (Hartsville, SC), a sister, Bridgette (Tyrone) Swindler (Florence, SC); special cousins, Christopher (Jenean) Chukes (Sumter, SC), and Jesse Bradley (Charlotte, NC), a special aunt; Ethel “Sue” Chukes and Mary Green, both of Hartsville, SC; one great uncle, Prince Small of Washington, DC, five uncles: Joseph (Vicki) Plight and James Plight, both of Washington, DC, George (Verlean) Plight of Waldorf, MD, and Matthew Plight and Boston Green of Hartsville, SC; his father- and mother-in-love; Howard and Alice Brown, Sr. (Bennettsville, SC), three brothers-in-love, Anthony (Teonna) McCall (Martinsville, VA), H. Vashon (Shonda) Brown, Jr., Minister Oscar (Falecia) Gregg III, both of Florence, SC, and Reginald (Ashley) Brown (Webster, FL).
Deone also leaves an additional nineteen other aunts and uncles, his Godfathers: Minister James (Maebell) Hough, Minister George Wingate, Jr., Randerson (Mary) Broach, Jesse (Jessie) Addison, Elder Lester (Hilda) Powell, and District Elder George (Betty) McElveen; special Godmothers: Carrie (Kenny) Alford and Sallie Ellerby; One Goddaughter, Tayania Brewer, and one Godson, Daryl W. Ellerby, II. Three special lifetime friends/brothers: Daryl W. (Ivy) Ellerby, Chris (Sherone) Hough, and Markell Powell (Charlotte, NC).
He leaves four nieces: Jessica, Quataja, Karrington, and Makayla; six nephews: Vashti, Tyrone, Jarod, Jarell, Ian, and Kenan as well as a host of additional Godfathers and Godmothers, friends, and acquaintances.
