Anne Hickman was born on August 3, 1943 in Lee County, the daughter of the late Louise and James Hickman. She received her education in the Darlington County Public Schools. Anne was a hard working woman that didn’t mind working. She worked as a caregiver in homes for 50 years and also with Byrds Hardware. She continued to care for Mrs. Mullis until the end. Anne was the type of lady that would give you her last. She also said. “money don’t make me, I make the money”. Anne was a fun lady to be around and spoke her mind and didn’t care who you were. She loved to dance and was affectionately called “the dancing machine”.
Anne’s love for life was displayed daily through her caring heart and love shown to all she encountered. Anne worked hard to provide for her children, family and friends. In her leisure time she enjoyed cleaning to include cleaning chitterings for her “boyfriend” Sam Davis. She loved dancing and was often the show stopper. You could depend on her to put a smile on your face. Anne also loved her Navy snuff and didn’t mind telling you what she could do with it. Even in dealing with her own battles in life, Anne never complained. Instead she made time to check on others. She would always say “don’t worry about me, I’m gonna be alright”. On September 16,1988 Anne decided that she wanted to make sure that she those she loved would not have to worry about this day. She made arrangements with specifications as to what she wanted and how she wanted it. Her words to her “Boyfriend” were “I am trusting you to make sure I’m good”. Anne knew what she was saying and she meant what she said. She knew that this day would come. She trusted and depended on those who she knew she could.
Anne departed this earthly realm on January 7, 2020. She is now free from the troubles and struggles of this world and resting in the presence of the Most High.
