Minister Levester Brewer was the son of the late Bishop Carlmilton and Flossie Blakney Brewer, Sr. He was reared in a loving home filled with the honor and belief and sincere love of God. “Vest” as he was affectionately known to those who loved him dearly, received his education in the South Carolina public schools. He graduated in 1969 from Butler High School. Upon graduating and entering into the workforce, Levester worked at Dupont for over 29 ½ years until retirement.
Minister Levester was a lifelong and active member of Wesley Temple United Holiness Church where he served in multiple capacities which included Associate Minister. He was also a member of Williams Temple Lodge No. 364.
Those left to cherish him memory are his wife, Shirley Wooten-Brewer of Hartsville, SC; Children: Minister Timothy Brewer of Hartsville, SC; Lavette Brewer of Florence, SC; Nicole Wooten of Charlotte, NC; Six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; Sister(s)/Brother(s): six sisters, Carrie (Kenneth) Alford, Annie (Gregory) Thompson, Laura (Earl) Miller, and Callestine Benjamin all of Hartsville, SC, Evelyn Herring of Columbia, SC and Grace Brayboy of Fayettsville, NC; Four brothers, Sidney Brewer, Willie (Shirley) Scott all of Hartsville, SC, Carl Brewer, Jr. of Charlotte, NC and Luther (Edith) Benjamin of Killeen, TX; Three foster brothers, Windell (Denise) Johnson, Bobby (Willie Mae) Roary both of McBee, SC, and Lee Ernest Moore of Brooklyn, NY; Three sister-in-laws, Yvonne Baskerville of Annapolis, MD, Tracy Wooten of Charlotte, NC and Tammy (Harold) Wooten-Mills of Clarkston, GA; Other Survivors: two aunts, Zealouise Hough of Hartsville, SC and Juliet Brewer Lunn of Baltimore, MD. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bishop Carlmilton Brewer and Flossie Blakney Brewer; siblings; Sandra Brewer Ervin, Minister Diretha Brewer Jackson, Willie Bud Brewer, Pastor Johnny L. Brewer, Garfield Black and Deacon Charles Scott.
