Lucille Mumford was the first offspring of the late Roosevelt and Rosa Lee Graham Mumford, Sr. She was born June 1, 1927 in Hartsville, South Carolina. The eldest of seven, Lucille along with her sister Lillie Mae who was born two years later, would often help their parents care for their younger siblings. The Mumford family attended Green Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Hartsville. This was where at an early age, Lucille accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized. Lucille was educated in the Darlington County School system and attended Butler High School. Upon leaving Butler, she relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in an effort to seek employment. Lucille found the job she was looking for and worked at Sun Clothes
Factory for almost ten years.
Lucille leaves to cherish her memory her sisters- Margaret, Mattie, and Mary (Timothy) and a host of nieces; nephews; grandnieces; grandnephews; great-grand nieces
and nephews; cousins; Godchildren and a multitude of friends.
