Naomi King Jowers was born on November 24, 1914 in Chesterfield County. She was the loving daughter of the late Dock King and Sallie Bell King. She received her education in the public schools in the area and was a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. She also served on the Senior Missionary Society with much honor and grace.
She was an active member of the church and served on several auxiliaries such as the Senior Missionary Society, Church Mother, Choir Leader, Secretary of Senior Missionary and Senior Choir. In her leisure Naomi found joy cooking, making quilts, preserving fruits and vegetables and feeding people.
Those left to cherish her memory are two children, John D. (Johnnie Mae) Jowers and Vera J. (William) Drakeford both of Jefferson, SC; Three siblings, Edell King Jowers of Jefferson, SC, Beulah (Henry) King James of Philadelphia, PA and Elizabeth King Sullivan of Richmond, SC; Two sister-in-law’s, Alean King and Mattie Jowers; Five grandchildren, Melissa (Wayne) Tedder, Darren (Jaqueline) Jowers, Teresa Jowers, Boris (Andria Hunter and Michael Jowers; Eight great-grandchildren, Dewaun, Ryan, Zana, Zannie, Chase, Chelsey, Carter and Raven; a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.
Naomi was preceded in death by her husband Maro Jowers, two brothers, J.D. King and Coyote Lee King and one sister, Geneva King.
