Richard was born on November 23, 1967 in Darlington County to Richard Lee Brockington, Sr. and the late Betty Lou Jackson. He received his education in the Darlington County public school systems. He was affiliated with Christ Temple Holiness Church and Salvation Temple.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Lou Jackson, his stepmother Peneicola Harriott, and a special cousin, Thomas Jackson.
