Mrs. Viola J. Richardson was born in Lynchburg, South Carolina on December 28, 1927. She was the loving daughter of the late Rev. Dr. I.W. and Henrietta P. Janerette. As the daughter of an AME minister, she was privileged to reside in several cities in the State of South Carolina. She was a graduate of Wilkerson High School (Orangeburg, South Carolina), and South Carolina College (South Carolina State University). Viola was united in holy matrimony to the late Cornell Richardson, Sr. for more than 54 years, and to this union four sons were born.
Mrs. Richardson was a retired educator. She was a lifelong member of the AME Church (a member of Mt. Calvary AME Church for over 65 years), and various Community and Civic organizations. She loved talking and telling others about her Church, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and The Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are her four sons, Cornell (Judy) Richardson, Jr. of Anderson, SC, Alfred (Marilyn) Richardson of Summerville, SC, Ivy (Lisa) Richardson, of Buford, GA, and Mark (Lynn) Richardson of Sugar Hill, GA,; two brothers in law, Clayton Richardson of Hartsville, SC, Willie Bristow Jr, of Darlington, SC, one sister in law Rosebud Beverly of Bowie , Maryland; fifteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; and other close friends.
